Unlike a formal initial inspection, verbal advice provided during a consultation does not trigger formal statutory notices or 60-day council reporting deadlines. It gives you the time and professional advice needed to plan rectifications properly.
When to Book an Advice Consultation
- New Pool or Spa Builds: Reviewing proposed fence lines and gate placement against boundary fences before final installation.
- Complex Boundaries: Evaluating retaining walls, elevation changes, or shared boundary fences to determine applicable non-climbable zones.
- Older Properties: Assessing whether existing barriers constructed under older Australian Standards (1986 or 1993) still comply or require upgrades.

Statutory Distinction
Consultation advice is advisory in nature and does not constitute a statutory building inspection. A formal inspection is required before a Form 23 Certificate of Barrier Compliance can be issued.
